Seeing Stars

It all started back in February. I was strolling around the Salon Shoe department at the Nordstrom in Las Vegas when I laid my eyes upon the most dazzling pair of shoes. I work in shoes. I am around shoes all the time, so to be truly dazzled, well, that is quite a feat (no pun intended...) I gently lifted one of the shoes off it's riser to see how much I could not afford them. They were beautifully sculpted, I mean, they were a piece of art! These little pieces of art for my feet were a mere $495, that is $249 each. They were Italian, Miu Miu, to be precise. Months went by and the lovely shoes haunted me. I would pick out outfits and think, "Those Miu Miu's would go perfect with this." Then in June, Nordstrom had their Half Yearly Sale and I could now purchase the shoes for a bargain at $249 for both! That was still quite steep for me, however, now that they were on the racks I could try them on with no guilt of not purchasing them. And they were lovely on my foot, customers near by said so! But again, I left the store without the shoes. A few weeks ago Berdie came home very excited about her Designer shoe purchases from the Nordstrom Rack. She bought two pairs of Prada shoes for something ridiculous like $300. It was a GREAT bargain. I jokingly asked if my Miu Miu shoes were there. Berdie replied, "the ones with the stars?" My heart sped up. Yes, the Miu Miu's were there for $169. I did not run out that moment, not even the next day. I mulled it around in my head for a few days. I decided I needed those shoes. I deserved those shoes! I was in the Valley working and made my way to the Nordstrom Rack in Topanga. There in the size 7's sat my Miu Miu shoes with the stars. I slipped one on my foot and a customer walking by said to me, "You are buying those shoes, aren't you? They fit you perfectly." I smiled and told her I have wanted them for months, she said they were mine now. Not that I needed any confirmation, but I made the purchase that day. I had always wanted to someday own a pair of Manolo Blahnik's. But just like you don't always fall in love with the man you dream about, I now own a pair of Miu Miu shoes instead of Manolo's and couldn't be happier, the fit is perfect.
